Resolutions

It's that time for New Year's Resolutions!!  For years, I have defiantly not made resolutions because I always thought they were cheesy - or terribly romantic.  Now that I am a mother and realize just how fast life is moving, I think it's time to pick up on a yearly favorite.  Here are few of mine:

1.  Be more patient.  I have seen this one flying around quite a bit on the blog-o-sphere.  But really - I need to learn to be more patient.  I have always been about the moment, instant gratification.  It's time for me to relax, plan and allow things to happen in a timely fashion.  That leaves me more time for my family.

2.  Work on a hobby.  Mine is photography.  I want to learn more about using my new camera and some more fun tricks to use in Elements.  I have had a blast so far - but I have much, much more to learn.

3.  Get back to school.  I start my Doula certification in February and should be starting school at Cincinnati State in their Nursing program.  Here's to a long journey back at school while balancing work and my family.

4.  Yoga.  I have gotten a little better about this since my fight with stress and skin reactions.  But I really need to get back into the habit.  Soren has been joining in too - which is even more incentive to get moving and flowing.

So there are four.  What are some of your resolutions for the upcoming year?

Cincinnati Winter

This year we got snow!!! Which is a big deal since we didn't get ANY last year.  When Soren was born we had spectacular snows.  The apartment was warm and cozy while I cuddled with our sweet, new addition to the family.  I was so bummed last year when we didn't really get much knowing Soren would absolutely LOVE it.  But this year, we did.  And low and behold - he had a blast.

But that's not all Cincy is good at.  Our new discovery lies in Cincinnati's Museum of Natural History (or to most of us - the Train Museum).  The Children's Museum in the basement is unreal! Not to mention the rest of this large art deco building.  Everything is set up for the kiddos.  I feel like it is one of the few child havens where every other word isn't 'no, sorry sweetie, that's not yours...can't touch.'.  Nope - you can touch and explore just about anything (some things, like historic cars and such...well, those aren't game).  Here are few pics from our already 3 visits in less than 2 weeks.  Yes...we ended up with a family pass....

EcOhio Farm

I know I mentioned this in my last post - but I feel it's necessary to bring it up again since we had the chance to visit GreenBEAN's farm this past weekend.  WOW!  I mean - truly, wow!  I am so proud to be a part of such a wonderful business.  I never realized how passionate I could be about food until now.  I love to cook, and I love great produce, but now - I really love the business behind it.  GreenBEAN delivery has partnered with the Cincinnati Zoo (love you Thane Maynard - woot! woot! 90 Second Naturalist!), to create EcOhio Farm.

And EcOhio?  I am theorizing that it is derived from the farm's mission to create a sustainable, organic eco-system - which they described on the hayride.  The Farm Fest was a blast - thanks GreenBEAN for hosting and being so awesome!

out of print

out of print has officially become a staple printing company around this house.  Rick's 35th bday was last week and Soren and I gave him an adorable apple postcard of the two dudes, a cream cheese filled pumpkin bread loaf and an out of print t-shirt of Darwin's The Origin of Species.  I also splurged and snagged a cute Tee for our little man.  The screen printing for out of print concentrates on book covers of classic novels, like… The Great Gatsby, Fahrenheit 451, Atlas Shrugged, Animal House, Slaughterhouse Five… you get the idea.  They have everything from bags and T-shirts to iPad and Kindle covers.  The prices aren't terribly cheap - but not frighteningly steep either.  They maintain a blog as well and is a super fun company to follow.  Here is our tally thus far:

…and apparently, they recently finished a Kickstarter for their eBook covers.  I guess they are taking on a slightly new look and gaining a bit more independence from other distributors - go out of print!  But before that all happened, I snagged the Animal House one for my Kindle...

and here is the little man, modeling off his Wizard of Oz Tee - so cute!

He is getting SO big!!  This is a 2T shirt and I thought we would have some time with him in it - turns out it is a perfect fit!  Two-years old next month, watch out!
