In my quest to better organize my blog - I have decided to topic a few days of the week (So BIG Monday, Pitty Tuesday...). Originally I meant for wishlists to be on Wednesday (nice alliteration - Wishlist Wednesday, cute, huh?) , but, alas, my painting project pushed this one to Thursday. Speaking of painting?!! Included in this list is my kitchen chaulkboard wall (painted, pics to come), a fresh coat of light green paint on the rest of the kitchen, fresh coat of paint on the cubboards (almost done!) and with fall on the horizon, some comfy, cozey clothes that will fit brilliantly under oversized sweaters and cardigans. Plus a little tee for my little man. Adorable! And the stick looking thing?? That's Darwin's Tree of Life - a part of my next tattoo - getting this one soon too, I hope!
lil Pitty Tuesday
While changing over to the Squarespace format I notice my blog was missing something very important - more about our little loving pitbull, August.
August has been a part of my life for 5 years now and has been a loyal and loving companion. Dogs are truly, mans (or woman's…) best friend. I never knew just how unconditional she was until we had Soren. Poor thing was the center of mine and Rick's world b.c. (before child) and now she has to share our attention with the wee man. It's been tough for her, but she is managing. Now that Soren is old enough to play with her - the two get along better than ever.
She's never been aggressive or outwardly mean to him, but you can see the abandonment and sadness on her face when our attention waivers or he steals her ball. I feel awful about every time we may have overlooked our sweet girl. Cheers to you pup, for being so patient and kind through it all. I dedicate my Tuesday blog posts to our loving pit bull. You are the best anyone could ask for. Love, love!
monday: getting SO big
Soren and I teamed up for the weekend and enjoyed our jaunts with Pappa when we got them. Rick has been working on a film score this week, with a VERY talented composer - can't wait to see it when it's all finished!
Our weekend was filled with tent meals, screening windows for fall, baking flour-less peanut butter cookies, snuggles and trips to some of our ole' favorites in OTR: Second Sunday on Main, lunch at Iris Cafe and Bookstore and Cafe de Wheels french fries. Oh, goodness, do I miss living downtown!
My little kitchen helper doing the dishes! Love him so much!
Happy Weekend
Soren wanted to wish you all a happy weekend!
My weekends off with my family are dwindling - as the performance season is around the corner. Pappa has a busy weekend ahead working on a film score with talented composer William White - so Soren and I will be bringing the ruckus to Cincy's parks, finish his tent and start in on some more sewing and knitting projects (Soren might end up with a corduroy jacket and camp/pom-pom hat…no promises though…). Happy weekend!
dropping stitches
Because Soren kept playing with the thread. Ripped off one double needle of stitches as I neared the end of a purl row. To all you other knitters out there - you know what I am talking about. And you might be shocked, that, in fact - it didn't bother me much. Because I am glad that he is interested in the thread, in the needles, in this crazy continuous knot forming into hand/arm mitts. I encourage him to drag the dog food holder into the bathroom, root through toothbrushes, pick a toothpaste and brush his teeth - even though I think he is playing more with the faucet than scrubbing. I love watching him grow and learn - and more than that, I appreciate that he wants me to be a part of it.
