'A portrait a week of my children, once a week, every week, in 2013'
Soren informed me that he was setting up his bed and would be sleeping by the tree to say 'hi to Santa'. Adorable.

Needless to say, our first snow experience of the season was a complete success!

I had about a dozen photos pegged for this week's portrait (considering we only have 4 weeks left - yikes!), but this one today stole my heart. There was something new yet so familiar about picking out the Christmas tree today. Watching him look in wonder and run through the rows of trees with his Pappa made me melt, I am truly grateful. Cheers - to the Holidays!
I am pretty sure I have posted about this one before, but this remains one of my all time favorite sensory play activities (and Soren's). I snagged this one from a friend, and it's been golden in our household since.
Simply grab a few kitchen bowls, measuring cups, baster, fine colander, whatever you can find - bubbles and warm water. I like using the daily kitchen tools because they are easy to clean up and it familiarizes Soren with what we use to cook food.
This is a great activity when you have to prep for dinner. Soren will go at these bubbles for t least and hour and have a blast. This time he brought his cars over - 'they need a car wash' I was told. I was able to make Cranberry Sauce, Salmon, Green Bean Casserole and start Banana Muffins. I say start - because at that point the little man always joins in!
I put a towel underneath of him but almost always, ALWAYS have to mop the floor afterward. Which isn't such a nuisance since we typically mop after cooking anyway!
Have Fun!
It's been CRAZY in this household. Between commercial live recordings, editing, locations, broadcasts, doing fun things around town with our lil' man, the big 3 birthday, camping out... yikes - this list could go on forever - we've been barely able to catch our breath.
Now we are all nursing colds, but powering through. And I am thankful for that.
I am thankful I have a partner of like mind to stand with me when it gets tough.
A kiddo that makes me smile everyday, laugh louder than I ever have before - and love deeper than I ever thought possible.
A pup that weathers all my storms and still comes up, tail wagging and full of kisses and cuddles.
And my family that will listen to me whine, complain, jump for joy and hug me when I need it - even over the phone 6 and half hours away.
I am super grateful for all the new friends we have made (including Soren's new buds!). Getting together with these awesome faces always brings me back to earth.
Happy Holidays everyone! Be safe this Black Friday and if you are looking for an alternative, come visit me at the Symphony!
