PSE 10 Actions

When I decided to roll with Photoshop Elements, I was certain I would loose the availability for actions.  I was wrong!  Even MORE of a reason for the novice photoshop-er to roll with Elements.

They aren't 'actions', they are 'effects' - with about a thousand different tutorials online (this one is my favorite) to help you install them (I might be hyperbolizing...slightly...).  Not only that, but there are some sweet free ones up for grabs all over the net.  The example below are from Coffee Shop Photography.  This is a great site with tutorials, actions/effects, and simply - fun ideas for all levels of photographers.  There are also actions/effects packages that you can pay for - and should to support the photographer enthusiasts willing to share precious effects that sometimes take hours to create.

Have fun! and get creative!

when to draw the line

Moving into another week and a another season.  Feeling a bit overwhelmed with work since we have been back from Tybee.  We've been trying to narrow down my position here at the station and simplify a few things so the job isn't so chaotic.  Let's see how it goes.  For the time being - I have to duck out of a few projects and let some things go to get a bit more time to breath.  I guess that is what vacations are good for - reminding you to take those moments since they are so precious and fleeting.

This weekend was filled with some good, casual family fun.  We spent some really amazing, quality time with Rick's folks on Saturday and busted a move at Linwood Playground (aka Lunken) on Sunday.  Here's to a week filled with answers (I hope!).

when do you say , enough is enough! ?  where do you draw the line?

99% Invisible

I am so inspired!

This has become one of my all time favorite podcasts provided by PUBradio on the west coast.  99% Invisible is a tiny radio show about design by Roman Mars

I am in love!  This podcast is quick moving with a music and sound bed that helps push the show forward.  They range anywhere from about 15 minutes to 20.  They are quick, but so good.  Don't be surprised if you get sucked in from the beginning.  I am inspired.  LX has been a joy to co-produce and I am getting the itch to push it forward, get more inventive, let my creativity flow.  I love Cincinnati - I love my family here in Cincinnati and shows like this just inspire me to poster that energy, that emotion more creatively.

I'm inspired.  How about you?

What inspires you to move forward creatively?

Like 99% Invisible?  Feel free to become an invisibler, invisiblist, or 99%-er, whatever term  you would like - by adding a number to their kickstarter:

Cincinnati Parks

...and recreation.  The recreation part is very important.  Because these aren't  just wonderful green spaces for wee ones to run, but playgrounds, for everyone - from Sawyer Point's handicap accessible ramps to Washington Park's sprayground.  Cincinnati is doing a great job of giving parents a place to hang out with their kids that inspires imagination and perpetuates laughter.

ready, set... Go!

Alive One

'tis Cincinnati these days.  But seriously - quite literally, Alive One in Mt. Adams has been hosting every third Thursday of the month an Ultrasessions show presented by the All Night Party and curated by Ms. Venomous Valdez herself.

These Thursdays have been amazing!!! With the Ridges last month and this (tomorrow night!) Joe Hedges from July for Kings, yes, Joe Hedges himself!  Tomorrow evening.  Rick and I are on a quest for a sitter - and you should go to.  It's gonna be a great show, seriously.  If you are in anyway shape or form an Imogen Heap fan - then, well, Joe is the male version for you.  Here is a snidbit of our interview with V. last week. (with Joe Hedges at the top from his album Alchemy)

On top of all that - Cincinnati has been wicked crazy this month.  The bonanza episodes for LX have been a blast to create - and we are not even close to short on material.  Check out the site!  More fun stuff to come.  Our check list so far includes:

Ozone Zipline Adventure
The Cincinnati Zoo
Pyramid Sculpture Park
The Kentucky Symphony Orchestra
Venomous Valdez presents:
Wussy updates
Alive One Third Thursday Concert Series
Fountain Square Indie Music Series
AND
Midpoint Music Festival
The All Night Party presents:
Bunbury Music Festival

It has been crazy fun - up next the Cincinnati Opera and some great wrap ups and reviews of events to round out the summer!

Special thanks to my partners in crime, my wonderful family.  Thanks for tagging along with me, you guys rule!
